Lavender Hill Farm would not be the amazing, magical destination it is today without the hard work and dedication of its three owners, Bill Mansfield, Erin Mansfield, and Rita Robbins. They became the farm’s owners in 2015, and it has truly been a labor of love for them ever since. All three have invested their lives in giving back to the local community and providing Northern Michigan with the natural beauty and rustic elegance of Lavender Hill Farm. The farm is open to the public and free to explore daily from 10am – 5pm.
About the Owners Part 2:
Meet Erin Mansfield
Where are you from originally?
I’m from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
What is your connection to Northern Michigan?
We started coming up here about 15 years ago. We were really drawn to the natural beauty and it was just everything you could want in a summer vacation spot.
How do you know the other two owners?
I’m married to Bill and I know Rita through Bill. We’ve know Rita for over 15 years now.
What was the most exciting thing about starting your journey with Lavender Hill Farm?
Just the excitement of what it could become and all the potential the farm had. I knew it was going to be a great spot to hang out all summer!
How would you describe the progress the farm has made since the transfer of ownership in 2015?
We’ve grown and evolved so much while maintaining the original charm and vision for the farm.
What is your proudest moment at Lavender Hill Farm?
Every time I hear visitors talk about how much they love the farm is a proud moment. It’s so cool to think that we did that! I know we’ve brought a lot of joy to a lot of people.
What is your favorite renovation/upgrade to the farm?
Definitely the balcony on the barn!
What is the biggest challenge you have faced at Lavender Hill Farm?
The biggest challenge was actually becoming farmers and learning how to farm and grow lavender.
What do you see in the future for Lavender Hill Farm?
I see us continuing to be a place for people to come to relax and enjoy being on the farm!
