Saturday, September 17, 2022 was a beautiful day for Lavender Hill Farm’s first-ever Sunflower Festival! Created to celebrate our gorgeous sunflower plot, this autumnal festival was a big hit with tourists and locals alike! From a Barn Market to food and beer vendors to guided sunflower tours, the Sunflower Festival offered something for everyone! Our fun-filled fall event was even featured on the local 9&10 News network!

The centerpiece of this event was the Barn Market, featuring crafts and handmade items from local Northern Michigan artisans. Vendors filled our century-old barn with creations including jewelry, clothing, artwork, spa products, and photography. Visitors were invited to peruse the Barn Market and shop at our Farm Boutique, which carries lavender products, gift sets, and sweet treats.

The Sunflower Festival was also host to multiple food and beer vendors including Stiggs Brewery & Kitchen, Tillie’s Tafel, Snickerdoodlz, and Waffle Cabin. Local musicians Jeff Pagel and Two Track Mind provided live music entertainment for guests while they shopped and dined.

Guided Sunflower Tours were offered throughout the day, lead by LHF Director of Agriculture, Erin Rau. These tours took participants to our hilltop sunflower plot and our brand new cut flower plot, where they were able to create their own custom bouquets and learned more about Lavender Hill Farm.

The Sunflower Festival was such a huge success that we’re planning on bringing it back again next year! Be sure to check our Farm Calendar and Events page next fall for more information. A big thank you to all the vendors who participated in this event, as well as our dedicated staff who helped turn this idea into reality!
